In investigating the historical Caesar and the foundations of modern democracy, we look at honour, power and language in the game of politics. Was it Caesar’s despotism or his perceived fragility that made him a target for political overthrow? Are honour and integrity qualities our leaders require or do they simply need to be able to to frame these concepts for their own political advantage?
